NBM Metaverse unveiled!
Hello miners, long time no see!
Over the last year, the NBM team has worked incredibly hard to deliver the first comprehensive, unique, and ambitious metaverse! Without further delay, let’s dive into it!
1) The NBM Metaverse comes with a story
The NBM metaverse comes with a very strong background divided into 4 chapters (giving you some clues on some future aspects of the gameplay):
Chapter 1: After conquering almost each piece of land on earth, mankind started to look up… to the stars. Over the course of the 21st century, scientists developed and mastered the warp technology, a unique way to distorts the shape of the space-time continuum thus allowing travels at a speed way greater than the speed of light.
After this unique discovery, researchers put their efforts on tackling major problems linked to space travel such as the generation of artificial gravity and the reduction of the time required for local travels. The latter was solved via an incredible scientific breakthrough: the generation of a new kind a spaceship able to extract from their environment various minerals and elements with the purpose of building functional replicas directly on site. The creation of this new type of spaceship (called self-replicating spacecraft) opened the age of decentralized production thus, virtually granting humanity an access to places previously beyond reach.
Chapter 2: Finally, in the year 2064, after solving all major challenges related to space travel, homo sapiens undertook its first long-distance journey in the stars. The destination: the Arcadia system, an undiscovered and promising region of the universe located in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm, a minor spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy.
Chapter 3: By 2070, humankind realized that Arcadia is an extremely attractive environment, especially after the discovery of several habitable planets harboring earth-like properties.
Those new worlds (baptised “New Terra”) became the rallying point for all kind of explorers. Although, the true potential of Arcadia was only unleashed after the discovery of four unique and unknown resources respectively named Fusium, Actium, Minimum and Constructium. After rigorous analysis of those new discovered elements, scientists established that each of those 4 resources harbor unique properties and can only be found in this area of the universe. Since then, Arcadia started to arouse covetousness. And for the following five years, numerous explorers, merchants, fighters kept arriving in Arcadia.
Chapter 4: Unfortunately, with more and more people leaving earth, our home was left… vulnerable. And something terrible happened there.
2) Deep dive into the composition of the NBM Metaverse
With the story being set, we can take a look at the metaverse itself. The NBM team revealed that the Arcadia system will be containing 10 planets, 12 moons and an atypical asteroid belt (probably located between the 7th/8th planet), all gravitating around a star. From the initial Metaverse sneak peek, we can speculate that the star will probably belong to the yellow dwarf star class (like our sun) making Arcadia, an environment similar to our solar system.
Of note, Dennison R Indang (Co-founder and Community manager) mentioned the 6th of June 2022 on Discord that the aforementioned structure (10 planets, 12 moons etc.) will be the initial metaverse layout (thus opening the possibility that the NBM environment could further grow). Also, based on all the NBM NFTs currently released plus several sneak peeks and hints published on Discord, we can expect habitable worlds, gas giants, hot worlds, ocean planets and even more.
Finally, the NBM Metaverse will be fully immersive and totally 3D.
Unlike other NFT-based games, every player will be able to interact with the environment in many ways.
3) Wen Wen WEN?
Let’s address the elephant in the room. When will the game be released? The first iteration of a fully functional metaverse (corresponding to the chapter 3 of the NBM story, mankind setting up foot on Arcadia) should be released Q3 2022. If no exact date was announced, we can expect a strong testing phase beginning of Q3 (for alpha testers on discord, everyone is welcome! Link here) followed by a released of the opened metaverse in Q4 2022.
On a positive note: So far, the NBM team was consistent and punctual with its releases/updates. The card game is still in late Alpha but Karlo Turk (Co-founder and CEO) as well as Dmitry Chalyi (Co-founder and head designer) mentioned on discord: “when a new NBM NFT is released, its 3D model is simultaneously prepared”.
Additionally, Vitalii Kyryliuk, the lead designer for the NBM metaverse announced during the AMA that he is currently using the Houdini software to model complex elements of the NBM metaverse (thus implying that the project is well under way). Hence, one can assume that most of the elements of the NBM Metaverse are already produced. It is now a matter of polishing the last pieces of the puzzle (there is still some work to do) along with putting them together. Finally, let’s not forget that the NBM team (originally comprised of four people) now has 13 members including developers and designers working full time on the Metaverse.
4) A totally new game!
It was mentioned on Discord that the game will be released as a Unity-based game. In clear, the game won’t be a web-based browser version anymore, but rather a more complex environment probably requiring every player to download some content (for free!).
5) Initial contact with Arcadia and its mechanics
What will the game look like? How many lands? What about constructions? The NBM team recently published lot of info on this topic:
First, the game will be Free-to-play. Each player will receive a unique station called Control center (or headquarter):
Entering the Control center (by clicking on it) will turn the game into some sort of FPS-like game allowing every player to access his mission control panel, manage his ongoing operations, see the various objects that were collected and more!
Of note, an active card called “Space battle station” already exists. And the NBM team mentioned in the AMA that every Space Station in the metaverse will be customizable and “maybe” upgradable. This opens the possibility that one could initially receive a space station with a strength linked to the amount/rarity of active space stations that he owns (as current active NFTs). Although, this remains speculation and the team intentionally leave some doubt on the possible link between those 2 elements.
Second, each control center will (at least) be equipped with one Planetary hovercraft unit. This little unit will be able to land and explore various elements of the Arcadia ecosystem. One key mechanism of the game is that Planetary hovercraft unit can only land on particular spots called “landing pads”. Landing pads will be randomly distributed across the surface of each planet/moons/asteroid.
Take home message : In each area of the NBM metaverse, landing pads will serve as strategic entry points for future explorers/colonizers.
Third, each planet (this also apply to the asteroid field) will be divided into land plots, themselves subdivided into hexes.
Hence, landing pads will only be present on few land plots. After landing, a player can take the control of a given land plot (and further exploit it) by building a control tower on it. However, to do so, one must own the given land.
5) Land distribution and fate of current NFTs
To own lands in the NBM metaverse, players will either have to buy them or claim them.
First things first: The NBM team recently announced that no more lands nor Constructions (as we know them — NFTs) will be further released. In the initial NBM roadmap, the team mentioned that 15000 land plots will be minted (along with 4000 constructions). The supply of circulating lands is currently above 13000 (leaving a bit less than 2000 lands to create).
Accordingly to the mechanics described during the AMA, a player owning an NFT land will be able to import his land into the metaverse. This action will lock the NFT into the Metaverse. The user will then be able to choose and claim for free a piece of land. Additionally, the player could also receive an “extra bonus” tied to the land (unfortunately, not much more info was given regarding this bonus but… it will be probably linked to the operation tower..).
Second: A bit before the release of the Metaverse, all land-related level up or fusions will be blocked. Players won’t be able to upgrade their lands anymore.
Third: Not all the lands will be equals. Some lands will have more resources, some lands will be bigger, some lands might be drained faster or take a longer time to regenerate. For the initial claim (i.e. conversion of one NFT land into one metaverse land), simply put, a better NFT land (like an Ultimate 5) = a better land plot in the metaverse! So, be sure to upgrade your lands before the big “upgrade shutdown”!
Fourth: The rules described in the third point will probably apply to constructions cards: i.e. possibility to import them, upgrade being stopped before the Metaverse release etc.
Finally, the remaining lands (the 2000 one not created yet) will be purchasable using an in-game currency. This new currency will be discussed in the following chapter. But please, keep it mind that those were the initials numbers. Numbers of lands could be bigger.
Important point:
Take-home message: you will be able to import all your current NBM NFTs into the NBM Metaverse. Once imported, you won’t be able to export them. But you will be able to sell/trade them for token(s) or goods in the NBM Market place. This will pave the way for the development of a strong tokenomics involving thousands of players.
6) Deep dive into the metaverse tokenomics
The four initial tokens (FUS, ACT, MIN, CON) will still be present and used to perform all the “in-game” dedicated actions (exploration, construction, expansion, etc.)
A new token will be introduced: let’s call it for now “Credits”. Credits will be used for player-to-player (P2P) transactions. The team mentioned during the AMA that they have no intention to step away from the WAX ecosystem. Although they would like to build their own marketplace where players will be able to sell, buy and even rent their goods.
For the creation of the Credits currency, the NBM team had to test few major blockchains including Solana and Polygon (MATIC). After careful consideration, it was decided that Credits will run on Polygon, an ERC-20 token compatible with the OpenSea marketplace (Ethereum). If the team mentioned that they have no intentions to get the 4 initial tokens listed on major exchanges, they are pretty confident that Credits will be implemented and accepted by most of the major trading platforms.
7) NBM metaverse: the simplicity of conventional gaming combined with the power of NFT trading
One of the major bottlenecks for the recruitment of new players in any NFT game is the overall complexity of the crypto space. Each new player must go through the laborious process of creating a new wallet, properly store his private key, purchase unknown cryptocurrencies via a third-party supplier (mostly unfamiliar and unappealing), read a lot to understand the whole process which, without any doubt, is a way paved with fees.
The NBM team intend to tackle this issue with a radical solution: a simple login using your standard email or Facebook account! Yes! Login in and playing the NBM game won’t be more complicated than that. A Polygon wallet will be automatically created and linked to each player account. It is very likely that this amazing feature will be implemented by using innovative solutions such as ORE ID, a universal authentication & authorization platform for blockchain. For the most experienced crypto-gamers, the standard connection modes (Anchor, WAX Wallet etc.) will also be available.
8) NBM Market place: better, faster, stronger
But, there is more… The team doesn’t plan on stopping there!
Currently, to buy NBM assets, every player has to go through the hassle of Atomic hubs and its many flaws (scams, high fees, CPU issues etc.). To tackle this issue, the NBM team is currently building its own Marketplace which will offer unique advantages.
First, every player will have the option to buy items by either using his credit card (no more crypto transfers via third party platforms) or his NBM Credits.
Second, the team mention in the recent AMA that they currently agreed on a flat 5% fee on every transaction. Of note, this fee is almost two times lower than the standard fees that every player must pay on the atomic hub market (currently fixed at 11%).
Finally: 80% of those fees (4% out of 5%) will be dedicated to burn Credits. This strategy will instore a deflationary mechanism for the overall supply of Credits thus, contributing to instore a well-balanced economy. Additionally, the team is currently collaborating with several organisms such as findas.org (a company specialized in the comprehensive analysis and planification of token economy) to ensure that every cog of this complex machine will be perfectly functional.
9) Phase 4: no more home…
The NBM team mentioned on multiple occasions that in the NBM Metaverse, the gameplay will be extremely exhaustive and versatile: conventional mining, exploration, raids, discoveries alliances and more:
While mankind was busy colonizing Arcadia, an alien invasion took place back home, on earth. A single ship made it to Arcadia. Undamaged, this ship (crewless) was programmed to deliver a warning message.
Fortunately for the colonists of Arcadia, the last survivors on Earth ensured to destroy all proofs or clues that could lead potential enemies to this part of the universe.
Thus, in the future, one can expect an amazing range of possibilities and scenarios for the NBM metaverse (unique missions to go and rescue the planet earth…?) You can let your imagination run wild!
Before leaving you… one minor correction… The “Credits” currency (mentioned in this article) and about to invade major exchanges in the next few months is actually… NBM tokens (ticker “NBM”)
